2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to sell for $34,995

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Everyone’s favorite Mitsubishi is back for the 2014 model year. The Lancer Evolution GSR will cost $34,995 when it hits dealerships while the twin-clutch-equipped Evolution MR comes in at $38,195, not including destination. Both of those prices are $300 more than last year.

Not much is changed from the slick 2013 version. Interior upgrades include a new 6.1-inch touchscreen, an HD radio, three months of satellite radio and an optional navigation system.

The Evo gets the same engine as the last few years, a high-strung, 2.0-liter turbocharged four making 291 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, feeding power through Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system. The GSR gets a five-speed manual while the MR uses the twin-clutch setup.

The S-AWC system works with the car’s center differential, Active Yaw Control system and the stability control system to put power down to the wheel with the most grip.

Low-profile Yokohama tires are wrapped around lightweight alloy wheels that don’t hide the brightly painted two-piston Brembo brakes.

Safety features include seven air bags, Active Stability Control, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and the RISE passenger safety cell.

We drove the 2013 Lancer Evo earlier this year and found it to be as precise as a scalpel with a thimble for a gas tank. Check out our full review here.
