B-52 Gyrosyn Induction Compass / Directional Indicator Sperry ID-567/ASNHere is the Induction Compass (Directional) Indicator for the Sperry Gyrosyn Compass system used in a number of Cold-War-era US Military aircraft such as the B-52 Stratofortress. See location of the instrument in the photo of a B-52 pilots instrument panel taken at Castle Air Museum. The knob turns the compass card when depressed, otherwise the card indicates direction given the appropriate electrical input from the remotely mounted directional gyro. Measures 3.25 inches diameter and 9 inches deep.

Volvo V40 Cross Country: 'all-road' performance The V40 Cross Country comes in front- or all-wheel drive formats, topped by the 2.5-litre T5 that’ll churn out 250bhp and pass 0-60mph in six seconds. A 40mm ride height increase is likely to limit on-road performance, but should come in handy should you need to traverse any troublesome countryside on the school run.
2014 Volvo S80 grabs IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus+
Thu, 19 Dec 2013The second-generation Volvo S80 has been with us since 2008, and just a year before its scheduled replacement with an all-new model it has managed to grab a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The S80 now joins its XC90, XC60, and S60 siblings in receiving this accolade, which was instituted just last year when the IIHS created a new type of crash test called the small overlap test. The small overlap test is designed to recreate a rather typical road accident scenario, one which hadn't been added to the roster of crash tests by most vehicle organizations.
Vintage racer Anatoly Arutunoff in serious but stable condition
Thu, 10 Feb 2011Automotive enthusiast, vintage racer, rapscallion and country-boy bon vivant Anatoly Arutunoff is in serious but stable condition following an accident on Feb. 8 while reportedly being a Good Samaritan. Arutunoff, known as Toly to his friends, was on his way to the Sports Car Club of America convention in Las Vegas when he stopped to help a stranded driver along Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas.
