'Oldest' right-hand drive Austin Healey up for sale

Specialist car auctioneers Coys is to sell the car among other highly sought-after models as part of the True Greats event in London on December 3. The 16th of 20 pre-production Healeys built before the model went into production is the oldest surviving example of a much-loved British classic, with genuine racing heritage and a lightweight bodyshell.
Chevrolet to dealers: Let Cruze shoppers test-drive competitors
Tue, 31 Aug 2010Chevrolet is asking its 3,000 dealers to prepare for the late September launch of the Chevrolet Cruze compact by purchasing competitors' vehicles for test-drive comparisons. Chevrolet is encouraging dealers to have a Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic on site so prospective 2011 Cruze buyers can immediately measure the car against its segment competitors, said Margaret Brooks, Chevrolet small-car marketing director. At a media event Tuesday in suburban Detroit, Brooks said Chevrolet expects buyers to come away with a favorable view of the Cruze.
SAE approves new fast-charging standard for EVs, plug-ins
Tue, 16 Oct 2012SAE International said it has approved a new technical standard that will dramatically reduce charging times for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles. The global engineering group said the new charging standard, developed with the cooperation of more than 190 automakers, utilities and equipment builders, will allow charging times to be reduced from as long as eight hours to as short as 20 minutes. Automakers want DC direct charging to take less than 10 minutes, or roughly the time it takes to fill a tank with gasoline.The goal is to accommodate currents as high as 500 volts distributed from public charging stations.
